Presented below are screenshots from the program explaining how easy it is to complete an analysis using BOLTCALC.
The program is designed for ease of use and fully utilizes the Windows interface.
From the menu on the main form, other forms such as the Joint analysis Data Entry Form can be viewed and edited. The minimum amount of data is required to be entered on this form for the program to provide an estimate of the bolt size required for an application.
Once all the necessary data has been entered, the program will compute and display the results. The program will also display a view of the joint that can be useful for data checking. Any of the drawings and graphs produced can be printed out or exported as graphics files.
The graphics assist in understanding the results and deciding what, if any, action to take in resolving a problem.
Metric or inch based units
The user can select either metric threads and units or inch based threads and units.
The program accesses databases, supplied with the program, giving thread and fastener dimensions. There are metric and inch thread databases that allows a user to select a thread size and all the relevant information is retrieved from the database regarding thread tolerances etc.
Bolt Strength Databases
The program accesses databases, supplied with the program, giving details about strength grades and property classes for both metric and inch threads. Again the user selects a strength grade and all the relevant properties for that grade will be used in the calculations.
Use of Graphics
The program presents graphical output of the calculations showing the joint diagram, preload requirement and other charts. The program also presents a view of the joint based upon the data entered that is useful for checking purposes.
The program can assist in solving bolt/nut loosening problems by helping to establish what is the root cause.
